The British king, Charles III, has suspended his activities for this Friday after having to be temporarily admitted on Thursday to the hospital to be treated for the side effects of the cancer treatment he is undergoing.
Buckingham Palace reported in a statement that after the medical treatment he received this morning, he experienced side effects "that required a brief period of observation in the hospital".
Therefore, despite having already returned to his residence at Clarence House, his scheduled activities for Thursday afternoon had to be postponed, and likewise his agenda for Friday has been suspended.
The monarch, who was diagnosed with an unspecified cancer in February 2024, was scheduled to receive the credentials of the ambassadors of three countries this afternoon, while on Friday he was set to participate in four public events in Birmingham (central England), according to palace sources.
The king hopes to reschedule those commitments at the appropriate time and apologizes to those who had been involved in their organization, according to the same sources.
After being driven to the London Clinic hospital - where he was previously treated for his condition - Charles III is back in good shape at his residence, where he has continued his office work as well as with some pre-scheduled calls.
Buckingham does not foresee major disruptions in his schedule for the coming days, although there may be some lightening of his activities to allow him to recover well for his upcoming State visit to Italy, which begins in just 10 days and remains as planned.
Despite Thursday's hospitalization, the palace insists that this is a specific event in his treatment and that his battle against cancer continues to progress well.
After resuming his public agenda almost a year ago, the king has fully regained his activity and this week alone participated in various events such as a reception for regional media.
