1,155 days of war in Ukraine have passed, and today a deadly large-scale Russian attack leaves at least 9 dead and 70 injured, including several children. The attack, which began around 1 a.m., hit at least five neighborhoods in the Ukrainian capital. Russia launched 215 drones and missiles in the overnight attack on Ukraine, said the Ukrainian Air Force.

Umérov Expects a Strong Response from Other Countries to Russia's Night Attack

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umérov demanded a strong response from other countries to Russia's overnight attack on several Ukrainian regions, stating that it confirms Russia's lack of desire for peace.

"These attacks are further confirmation that Russia is not seeking peace. It continues to kill Ukrainians. We expect a strong response from other countries," he wrote in a Facebook post, as reported by Efe.

He added that Ukraine needs more anti-aircraft defense systems to protect itself from Russian terror.

"At the same time, work must continue to create real security guarantees that make any aggression against our country impossible. This is the path to a just and lasting peace," he emphasized.

Russia Launched 215 Drones and Missiles Against Ukraine Overnight, Says Ukrainian Air Force

Russia launched 215 drones and missiles in an overnight attack on Ukraine, said the Ukrainian Air Force, as reported by Reuters.

Air force units shot down 48 missiles and 64 drones, while 68 drones were redirected by electronic warfare, the air force said in a Telegram post.

Possible Derailment of Negotiations on Ukraine

While visiting India, US Vice President JD Vance threatened yesterday with the US withdrawal from the dialogue with Ukraine and Russia if they do not accept Washington's latest peace proposal, which would freeze the conflict indefinitely, with minimal changes, on its current fronts.

Faithful to his principles and to Russia's interests, Donald Trump once again accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of jeopardizing an imminent agreement. "By refusing to cede Crimea to Russia, the most controversial aspect of the latest leaked draft agreement to date," notes the Guardian, as highlighted by Felipe Sahagún in his international analysis newsletter.

"The first necessary step is a complete ceasefire on land, sea, and air," says Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko. "We are willing to negotiate, but we will not surrender." Zelensky's latest proposal is a simple ceasefire, without conditions.

Kiev: Explosion Sends Kitchen Appliances Flying

"Honestly, I don't even know how all this will end, it's very scary," said Bilozir, referring to the war against the Russian invasion, as reported by Ap from Kiev. "I just believe that if we can stop them on the battlefield, then that's it."

More fires were reported in the Shevchenkivsky and Holosiivskyi districts.

Anastasiia Zhuravlova, 33, and a mother of two, took refuge in a basement after several explosions damaged her home. Her family was asleep when the first explosion shattered the windows and sent kitchen appliances flying. They were hit by glass fragments as they ran to take shelter in the hallway: "Then we came to the shelter because everything at home was terrifying and dangerous," she explained.

Kiev on High Alert Again

In the Sviatoshynkskyi district, a fire broke out in a residential building that was damaged in the attack. The Ap agency witnessed rescue teams extracting people trapped under the debris of the building and removing bodies.

Oksana Bilozir, a student, suffered a head injury in the attack. With her head bandaged and bloodied, she heard a loud explosion after the air raid siren sounded and began gathering her things to flee to a shelter when another explosion caused the walls of her house to collapse and the lights to go out.

Rescue Operations in Kiev Among the Rubble of Two Collapsed Buildings

Rescue operations were still ongoing early Thursday morning to find bodies under the rubble.

In a residential building in Kiev that was almost completely destroyed, emergency workers removed debris by hand, rescuing a trapped woman who emerged from the rubble covered in white dust and groaning in pain.

An elderly woman sat against a brick wall, her face bloodied, eyes fixed on the ground in shock as doctors tended to her wounds.

Fires were reported in several residential buildings, said Tymur Tkachenko, head of the city's military administration, as reported by Ap.

Ukraine Detects at Least 45 Drones in Russian Attack on Kiev

A large-scale Russian attack with missiles and drones hit Kiev overnight, killing nine people and injuring over 70, including six children, Ukrainian authorities reported on Thursday, according to Ap.

The Kiev City Military Administration stated on its Telegram channel that Russia attacked Kiev with drones and ballistic missiles. At least 45 drones were detected, with the administration adding that the Ukrainian Air Force would provide updated figures later.
