The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, on an official trip to Washington, handed Trump a letter with the invitation from the king during a press conference in the Oval Office of the White House.

"It is an invitation for a second State visit. This is very special. It has never happened before. It is unprecedented. And I believe it symbolizes the strength of our relationship," declared the Labour leader as he handed the letter to the president.

Trump accepted the proposal on his and the First Lady Melania's behalf, stating that it will be "an honor" to return to the United Kingdom, which he described as a "wonderful country."

In June 2019, during his first term, Trump had a three-day State visit to the United Kingdom at the invitation of the late Queen Elizabeth II, during which he attended a lavish banquet.

Barack Obama and George W. Bush were the other two U.S. presidents who made State visits to the United Kingdom during Queen Elizabeth II's seven-decade reign.
