The Romanian Ministry of Defense has stated on Thursday that it is likely that two drones entered its airspace during the Russian night attack on neighboring Ukraine. Meanwhile, it seems that the plan of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to try to end the war in Ukraine is progressing.

The U.S. President has announced that he has reached an agreement with Vladimir Putin to initiate peace talks. Subsequently, he spoke with the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, who has recently posted on his social media accounts that "nobody wants peace more than Ukraine," adding: "Let's do it."

Bulgaria plans to sell two Russian-made nuclear reactors to Ukraine

Boyko Borisov, leader of the conservative party GERB, the largest formation in the Bulgarian coalition government, supported the sale of two Russian-made nuclear reactors to Ukraine from a canceled atomic plant project, as reported by Radio National of Bulgaria (BNR) on Thursday.

"It will be economically beneficial for Bulgaria," Borisov told reporters in Parliament, as reported by BNR.

The Ukrainian Rada approved on Monday the purchase of the VVR-1000 reactors, acquired by Bulgaria from Russia in 2015, to expand the Ukrainian nuclear plant in Khmelnytskyi, which will have four operational reactors.

German Defense Minister laments Trump's "concessions" to Russia regarding Ukraine

The German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius described on Thursday as "regrettable" that the Trump administration has made "concessions" to Russia even before formal peace negotiations take place.

"In my opinion, it would have been better to discuss at the negotiation table the possibility of Ukraine's membership or potential territorial losses," Pistorius said before a NATO meeting in Brussels.

On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had agreed with Vladimir Putin to start "immediate" negotiations to end nearly three years of war in Ukraine, and to meet in person with his Russian counterpart, likely in Saudi Arabia.

Belgium says Trump's peace plan for Ukraine is "a victory for Putin"

The Belgian Defense Minister, Theo Francken, stated on Thursday that the framework for a peace plan in Ukraine outlined by the United States is "a victory" for Russian President Vladimir Putin and "bad news for the West."

Speaking to the Flemish public radio VRT, Francken considered that what is known about the peace plan of U.S. President Donald Trump, who spoke with the Russian president yesterday and then with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, is "a victory for Putin."

"He has always said that he does not want Ukraine to become a NATO member and that it should not have to give up any gained territory," the Belgian minister reminded VRT, as reported by the Belga agency.

Trump spoke on the phone on Wednesday with the Russian and Ukrainian leaders before announcing that the United States and Russia will begin negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.

Ukraine must be "closely involved" in any peace dialogue, says NATO Secretary General

Ukraine must be "closely involved" in any peace negotiation, and an agreement must be "lasting," said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Thursday after direct contact between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

"Obviously, this is crucial, (...) that Ukraine is closely involved in everything that happens regarding Ukraine" and that a potential agreement "does not collapse, that it is lasting," Rutte said at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Ukraine wants a ceasefire, but not at any cost

The double call between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin and then Trump's call with Volodymyr Zelensky has left Ukrainians concerned. Soldiers on the front share news of these conversations in the trenches thanks to Elon Musk's Starlink antennas and feel confident about being able to return home soon. Most of them desire a ceasefire after nearly three years of Russian invasion, but not at any cost.
