It has been 1,084 days since the war between Ukraine and Russia began, with little hope of reaching a ceasefire. The early hours of Sunday to Monday were intense, with a drone attack ordered by Moscow over the regions of Kiev and Sumy.

Kremlin sources claim that Russia's air defense units intercepted and destroyed 15 Ukrainian drones, seven of which were shot down over the southern region of Krasnodar, while the rest were intercepted in other regions in the south and west of Russia.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army reported on Monday that it had shot down 61 out of the 83 drones launched by Russia during the night.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, lowered his expectations of mediating for both countries to end the conflict in record time. However, he acknowledges that he has already contacted Vladimir Putin to try to reach an agreement.

Nighttime Russian drone attacks caused a fire in Kiev, injured a woman, and damaged several houses in the northeastern city of Sumy, Ukrainian officials reported on Monday.

No injuries were reported in the attack that caused a fire in a non-residential building in Kiev, said Mayor Vitali Klitschko in a Telegram post.

However, a 38-year-old woman was hospitalized after Russia launched drones over Sumy, which is the administrative center of the region of the same name, reported Ihor Kalchenko, the region's governor, on Telegram.
