A two-and-a-half-year-old Palestinian girl has died from a gunshot to the head by Israeli troops in Qabatiya, a town south of Jenin (northern West Bank), as confirmed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health this Saturday.

"The girl, Laila Muhammad Ayman al Jatib (two and a half years old), died from the serious wounds caused by the occupation's bullets," the ministry announced.

Around 8:14 PM local time, the Palestinian Red Crescent stated that they were transporting the girl, then injured, to the hospital, although less than two hours later, authorities confirmed her death, as reported by Efe. The Army has not yet commented on the matter.

Qabatiya and its surroundings have also been affected in recent days by the "Iron Wall" operation by the Israeli army, a "counter-terrorism" crackdown in Jenin, one of the strongholds of Palestinian militias in the occupied northern West Bank.

"The forces of the occupation army (Israeli) continue to raze and destroy infrastructure in the city of Jenin (...) They also carry out numerous arrests and abuses," said the Al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, in their communication channels.

Meanwhile, the Israeli armed forces reported this afternoon that three of their soldiers were injured, one of them seriously, during the raid, which concludes its fifth day this Saturday.

Last night, Israel killed two other Palestinians in Qabatiya by bombing a vehicle in which, according to the military, a terrorist cell was present.

Shortly after, the Islamic Jihad claimed the deceased as their militants, identified as Mohamed Ragheb Kamil, 23, and Mujahid Mohamed Amer Zakarneh, 18.

So far, the Israeli operation in Jenin and its surroundings has resulted in the death of at least 15 Palestinians and injured dozens.
