Liri Albag, Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, and Naama Levy have been released after being kidnapped for 477 days by Hamas, as part of the truce that the Gaza terrorist group has signed with Israel.
The four, along with Agam Berger, who remains in captivity in Gaza, were kidnapped at the Nahal Oz base during the attacks on October 7, 2023, where fifteen other female soldiers died.
Regarding their profiles, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Naama Levy was a triathlete during her teenage years and a counselor in the Noam Youth Movement in Ra'anana, which aims to deepen pluralistic Jewish identity. She also actively participated in Hands of Peace, where, after high school, she was part of a joint Israeli-Palestinian-American delegation in the U.S.
Levy completed the IDF field observation course and was sent to the Nahal Oz base two days before October 7. Her kidnapping was captured in a video showing her being taken out of a car under the threat of a gun, with blood-stained pants, barefoot, and limping.
On the other hand, Liri Albag had plans to move to Paris to study interior design before being kidnapped. During her captivity, Hamas released several videos showing her condition, positioning her as a symbol of the dozens of hostages held by Hamas.
Daniella Gilboa, 20, studied music at Ben Gurion High School in Petah Tikva, plays the piano, sings, writes, and dreams of becoming a singer, as explained by her parents to the aforementioned newspaper. Two weeks after being captured, her parents added the Hebrew letter "Hei" to her name as a religious gesture.
Lastly, Karina Ariev from Jerusalem, graduated from Teddy Kollek High School in the Pisgat Ze'ev neighborhood, where she has lived with her family since her parents immigrated to Israel. Karina also appeared in a video released by Hamas alongside Doron Steinbrecher, who was released on Sunday, and Daniella Gilboa. "Our parents are devastated. Their hearts are torn in two. Half for me and the other half for her. And their other half is missing at this moment," expressed her sister after the kidnapping.
As part of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, the Gaza group will release 33 hostages during the first stage of the 42-day agreement. Three of them, Emily Damari, Romi Gonen, and Doron Steinberger, have already been released in the first weekly phase that began last Sunday.
