Tough times for Pope Francis, 88 years old. This Thursday, the Pontiff suffered a fall at his residence, the Santa Marta house, resulting in a bruise on his right forearm, without fractures, and was immobilized as a precautionary measure, as reported by the Vatican press office. A few weeks earlier, another fall left him with a bruise on his chin, as reported by Efe.
Despite the fall, Francis continued with his work schedule - which included five audiences - without any issues, although with his arm immobilized with a white bandage as seen in the photos distributed by the Vatican, such as the meeting he had with the college of Argentine priests in Rome.
This is the second fall of the Pope in a short period, as on December 7, the pontiff, who has serious mobility issues, appeared with a large bruise on his chin.
At that time, Francis suffered "a bruise when he hit the bedside table," according to the director of the Holy See press office, Matteo Bruni.
Also on that occasion, the pontiff continued with his schedule and the celebration of the tenth consistory, in which he appointed 21 new cardinals and appeared with the noticeable bruise on the right side of his face.
Francis suffers from severe gonalgia in his right knee which prevents him from walking, so he uses a wheelchair or occasionally relies on a cane.
