A strange event occurred in Avilés (Spain). A Spanish man was arrested after removing the coffin with his mother's body from La Carriona Cemetery and taking it to his home, from where it was recovered and transferred back to the cemetery by order of the duty judge.
The incident took place this Saturday when the man went to his mother's grave, who passed away this week, where he began shouting that they had taken her from his home without his permission, as reported by the regional press.
He then proceeded to remove the flowers from the grave, took off the tombstone left on the ground, broke the brick wall before extracting the coffin and dragging it to his car, where he placed the casket and later drove to his home about 3 kilometers away, after some people at the cemetery tried to dissuade him.
The police investigation initiated after the parish priest reported what happened at La Carriona allowed the officers to go to the home where the man was with his mother's corpse.
The man was arrested, and the coffin with the woman's body was returned to the parish cemetery, sealed again in the corresponding grave. However, a few hours later, the coffin was removed by judicial order and transferred to the funeral home, where the judge ordered the Forensic Police to proceed with the identification of the body.
The magistrate of the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 7 of Avilés, acting as duty judge, ordered the identification, record, and photo of the corpse, which is currently in the facilities of La Carriona by the forensic police, according to sources from the Superior Court of Justice of Asturias.
Likewise, he ordered that the man be taken to the Hospital de San Agustín, where the psychiatry department deemed that his admission was not necessary. Therefore, the National Police took charge of the man as a detainee, and it is expected that he will appear before the duty judge this noon.
