Fabio Ochoa Vásquez, one of the founders of the Medellin Cartel and associate of Pablo Escobar, has arrived in Colombia deported after serving 26 years of drug trafficking sentence in the United States as reported by Migration Colombia.

"At this time Migration Colombia receives Fabio Ochoa Vásquez, former member of the Medellin Cartel, who arrives in the country as a deportee after serving a drug trafficking sentence in the United States," the institution indicated in a message posted on its X account.

Ochoa Vásquez, 67 years old, arrived on a flight along with other deportees from the United States, and Migration Colombia added in a statement: "Once the migration control process is completed, and it is verified that the citizen does not have any judicial annotations, it is expected that he will enter the country without any issues."

After the migration control process, authorities confirmed that "there are no requirements" and Ochoa Vásquez "was released to reunite with his family."

The former drug trafficker was captured in October 1999 and extradited to the United States in 2001, and later, in 2003, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for conspiracy, human trafficking, and distribution of 30 tons of cocaine. His sentence was reduced for cooperating with US justice.

The former boss was one of Pablo Escobar's partners and co-founder of the Medellin Cartel, along with his brothers Jorge Luis and Juan David Ochoa Vásquez.

In the late 80s he was involved in the murder of Barry Seal, a former pilot of the Medellin Cartel who was also an informant for the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
