The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated on Tuesday, after meeting with the responsible for armament development, that the national military industry is "accelerating" its own missile production, as reported by Efe.
"I have received a report on the testing of new types of missiles. I can thank the Ukrainians involved in missile development. We are accelerating production," Zelensky wrote on social media without providing further details.
Ukraine is developing and manufacturing new missiles as part of efforts to reduce its dependence on foreign military aid to address Russia's military aggression.
Zelensky stated last month in an interview with Ukrainian public radio that four new types of missiles were being tested. In October, the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Rustem Umérov, stated that Ukraine's priority is the development and production of long-range drones and ballistic missiles.
During the mentioned meeting, the Ukrainian President was also briefed on the "contracts" received by Ukrainian armament producers. "A significant volume of new and long-term orders for drones: FPV, reconnaissance drones, long-range drones, missile drones," wrote Zelensky.
Numerous public and private drone producers supply an increasing number of unmanned aircraft to the Ukrainian Army. Some Western countries like Denmark also acquire part of the military aid they provide to the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Ukrainian producers.
