At least eight people have died and 17 have been injured in a knife attack at a vocational school carried out by a 21-year-old student in the eastern city of Wuxi, in the Chinese province of Jiangsu, on Saturday -in the late evening there-, as reported by the police in a statement accessed by Reuters.

"It has caused eight deaths and 17 injuries. The suspect was arrested at the scene. Because he failed his exam and was dissatisfied with his pay, he returned to the Professional Institute of Art and Technology to express his anger and commit these murders," said the Yixing police.

The suspect "confessed everything"

"Services are fully mobilized to ensure care for the injured, manage the consequences of the tragedy and carry out the investigation into this case," concluded the police.

China remains generally very safe, but in recent months it has suffered several deadly attacks, reports Afp.

A 62-year-old man ran over people exercising outdoors with his SUV on Monday night at a sports complex in Zhuhai, in the province of Guangdong (south), leaving 35 dead and around forty injured.

In Shanghai, in October, a man killed three people and injured 15 in a knife attack at a supermarket.

In September, a Japanese schoolboy was stabbed to death in Shenzhen (south).
