Moscow remains "the sole obstacle to a just peace" for Ukraine, as estimated by the G7 countries in a statement on the 1,000 days since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as reported by AFP.

The leaders of the G7 (France, United States, Japan, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy) reaffirmed their "strong support for Ukraine for as long as necessary."

"We stand united in contributing to the fight for sovereignty, freedom, independence, territorial integrity, and reconstruction of Ukraine," the statement released by Italy, which currently holds the G7 presidency, states.

"After 1,000 days of war, we acknowledge the immense suffering of the Ukrainian people. Despite these challenges, Ukrainians have shown unparalleled resilience and determination to defend their land, culture, and people," affirm the leaders of the "Group of Seven."

"Russia remains the sole obstacle to a just and lasting peace. The G7 reaffirms its commitment to imposing high costs on Russia through sanctions, export controls, and other effective measures. We stand united alongside Ukraine," they assure.
