A man held several employees inside a restaurant located in Issy Les Molineaux, in Paris. The Police Intervention Brigade, responsible for handling hostage situations, along with a negotiator, deployed a large operation, cordoning off the area, which ultimately led to the suspect's arrest without any injuries.

The swift action of this special unit allowed to end the incident just three hours after it started, around 13:00 local time (11:55 GMT).

The man, who is reportedly the son of the restaurant owner, has a history of drug use and related violent incidents, as stated by a police source to French public television.

The armed suspect threatened to commit suicide before barricading himself. The same police source added that the man called his mother this morning to tell her he needed cocaine.
