Meanwhile, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte visited the Alliance's mission headquarters for Ukraine in the German city of Wiesbaden, affirming that the organization will not be intimidated by Russian threats and will continue to firmly support Kiev.
"The message (to Russian President Vladimir Putin) is that we will continue, we will do what is necessary to ensure that he does not get away with it, that Ukraine will prevail," Rutte stated in an interview with Reuters.
Interception of a Shipment to Russia of 13,000 Kilograms of Precursors for Chemical Weapons
The National Police, in a joint operation with the Tax Agency, intercepted a shipment of 13,000 kilograms of precursors destined for Russia, where these substances could be used as precursors for chemical weapons or nerve agents.
The investigation began in 2022, following the start of the conflict in Ukraine, when a company managed by Russian citizens was found to have developed a commercial, logistical, and economic triangulation system to illegally supply chemical products to Russia.
The Spanish company had a subsidiary in Moscow that was the final recipient of the chemical products. However, this destination was disguised through front companies in countries like Armenia or Kyrgyzstan, although the merchandise was diverted by land to Russia.
Russian Defense Minister Meets with Senior Official in Beijing
Russian Defense Minister, Andrei Belousov, on an official visit to Beijing, was received on Tuesday by a senior Chinese military official, as indicated by the Russian army in a statement.
The meeting between Belousov and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China, Zhang Youxia, took place a day after the meeting between the Russian minister and his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun, according to the same source.
"We have had very substantive discussions with the Chinese Defense Minister and see that we have common views, a common assessment of the situation, and a common vision of what we need to do together," Belousov said during the meeting, as quoted in the statement.
Zhang Youxia, on his part, stated that he is paying "special attention" to this visit and expects "a strengthening of relations between the Russian and Chinese armed forces," according to his words translated into Russian and cited in the statement, reports Efe.
At Least 16 Injured in Mykolaiv
Russia's attack on the Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv in the country's south caused one death and at least 16 injuries, as reported on Tuesday by the head of the regional military administration. The attack damaged an infrastructure facility, a complex of restaurants, commercial pavilions, residential buildings, and cars, said Governor Vitaliy Kim on the Telegram messaging app.
Emergency services stated that the attack also caused several fires, two of which have already been extinguished. Ukrainian military personnel mentioned that Russian forces used seven S-300/400 missiles to strike the region.
Ukraine Claims to Have Shot Down 12 Russian Drones
The Ukrainian army reported that it had shot down 12 out of 17 Russian drones during a nighttime attack. Four of the drones that were not shot down were "locally lost," likely due to active electronic warfare, the air force also stated via the Telegram messaging app.
The air force also mentioned that Russian forces used seven S-300/400 missiles to attack the Mykolaiv region and two Kh-59 cruise missiles to target the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, as reported by Reuters.
