Andreas Münzhuber, 37, a prominent German neo-Nazi, has died after falling about 60 meters while descending the Untersberg-Knieschnackler, believed to be Adolf Hitler's favorite mountain.

The high-ranking member of the Bavarian faction of the neo-Nazi group The Third Way was climbing the Untersberg mountain with a group of 30 people when he stumbled on an exposed wet root and fell through vertical rocks and cliffs to Dongus-Marterl, where he suffered fatal injuries, as reported by the emergency services of the Red Cross of the Berchtesgaden District.

Initially, two companions and two other hikers on the ascent, a medical intern, and a policewoman, immediately called emergency services and tried to save the man

Rescue teams arrived at the scene after the fall, but the far-right radical died instantly.

Shortly after, the rescue helicopter Christoph 14 and the mountain rescue services in Bad Reichenhall and Teisendorf-Anger arrived at the scene but the emergency doctor could only confirm the man's death.

Ten members of the hiking group were attended to by two crisis intervention mountain advisors (KID) at the mountain rescue station in Bad Reichenhall.

His comrades are raising donations, through Facebook and Telegram, to erect a commemorative stone for the Bavarian neo-Nazi leader and financially support his widow and son.

The Untersberg massif, 1,972 meters high, in the Alps, stretches between the border of Germany and Austria.
