The fighting continues in Lebanon between Hezbollah and Israel, which tonight once again targeted southern Beirut. In a new bombing in the suburbs of the Lebanese capital, at least six people were killed and nearly a dozen injured after a building hit by a missile collapsed.

The death toll from the confrontation between the militia and the Israelis continues to rise and now stands at nearly 2,000. Just this Wednesday, 46 people died and another 85 were injured in the bombings launched by Israel against Lebanon, as reported by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.

Israel and Hezbollah have been at odds since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip almost a year ago, but the violence escalated to an unprecedented level since 2006 two weeks ago when Israeli forces began a massive bombing campaign that has devastated entire towns and villages.

Borrell: "It would be very serious to enter into an open war with more actors"

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, expressed his concern about the "invasion that is taking place" in Lebanon. "This is like a game of ping pong. Hezbollah has attacked Israel and forced tens of thousands of Israelis to flee, but the international community's opinion of not invading Lebanon has not been heard," he said.

"The key is in Gaza. Until the war in Gaza ends, the conflict will continue to escalate," he added.
