The war in Middle East is currently on the brink of triggering an open war between Iran and Israel, the two powers in that geographical area. The Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon, with the aim of carrying out selective attacks on Hezbollah, has provoked a strong Iranian response, launching 180 missiles at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Now, facing Iran's threats of a possible Israeli response, US media have reported that Netanyahu's forces will launch in the coming days a "significant retaliation" that could target oil production facilities within Iran and other strategic sites.
Despite the escalation, Israel continues its bombardments on Lebanon, where tonight it has attacked "terrorist targets" of Hezbollah in the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as Dahye. Meanwhile, USA supports the "right to self-defense" of Israel, one of its major allies in the Middle East.

The President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, strongly condemned on Wednesday the ballistic missile attack by Iran on Israel and called for de-escalation in the region and the protection of civilians, Efe reports.
"I strongly condemn the ballistic missile attack launched yesterday by Iran against Israel," Von der Leyen wrote in a message on the X social network. She stated, "such actions threaten regional stability and increase tensions in an already extremely volatile situation." The German politician also urged "all parties to protect the lives of innocent civilians."
Yemen's Houthi rebels claim to have launched three missiles at Israel
Yemen's Houthi rebels, a group backed by Iran, claimed on Wednesday to have fired three missiles at Israel, a day after a massive Iranian attack on Israeli territory, Afp reports.
The Houthis "carried out a military operation against military sites within the Zionist entity (...) with three Al Quds 5 cruise missiles," declared their military spokesman, Yahya Saree, without specifying the date.
New day of large-scale Israeli bombings against the south and east of Lebanon
Israeli forces bombed numerous towns in southern and eastern Lebanon early in the morning, where the main strongholds of the Shiite group Hezbollah are located, but also the southern suburbs of Beirut known as Dahye, where the Israeli Army requested the evacuation of some areas last night, Efe reports.
The Lebanese National News Agency (ANN) reported that several towns in southern Lebanon were subjected to Israeli "massive attacks," mainly targeting towns adjacent to the coastal city of Tyre, about 20 kilometers from the border with Israel.
According to the state media, some of the affected municipalities were Mifdoun, Ansar, Deir al Qanun, or the district of Nabatiyeh, but the bombings also targeted the "southern entrance" of Tyre, from where thousands of people have moved in recent days to escape the wave of airstrikes.
