President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, arrives at the U.S. airbase in Ramstein, in Germany, with the commitment from the United Kingdom to provide Kiev with 650 multifunction light missile systems. The Ukrainian president presents himself after renewing his government, with Sybiha as Foreign Minister, to prevent war fatigue from eroding Western commitment.

The announcement of this 192 million package was made shortly before the meeting of the members of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, attended for the first time by Labour's John Healey as Defense Minister. The host, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, announced a new military aid of 250 million dollars.

Ukraine's main wishes at the moment are more Western anti-aircraft defense systems and permission from Western partners to allow them to use their weapons to attack targets onRussian soil, which will be discussed due to the security issues faced by the U.S.and its allies and partners.

On the battlefield, Ukraine is waiting to see if the army's gamble with its surprise incursion into the Russian border region of Kurskone month ago pays off. Meanwhile, Ukrainian soldiers, outgunned, are gradually retreating in the face of the one-month Russian incursion in the country's east, and Ukrainian civilians are at the mercy of deadly long-range Russian airstrikes.

The Azov brigade announced that it had managed to "regain control of part of Niu York and unblock" Ukrainian soldiers "surrounded by enemy forces," in a successful counterattack in the town in their eastern Donetsk region, an unprecedented Ukrainian advance in the area for months.

Last night, a new Russian attack in which the Ukrainian air force said it had shot down 27 of the 44 drones launched. Additionally, Russia used two missiles.

The war in Ukraine is approaching what could be a harsh new winter. The Ukrainian power grid is under great pressure after Russian missiles and drones knocked out around 70% of the country's generation capacity.
