One of the most recognized Paralympic athletes in Spain, the parasurf champion, Mireia Cabañés, has managed to recover her orthopedic foot, which she had lost in the sea during one of her training sessions.

The athlete made an appeal through her social networks to all her followers to help her find the prosthesis on Cuberris beach (Ajo, Cantabria) and they, along with the maritime rescue team, have contributed to her recovery. "Thanks to everyone, it's the best day of my life", she expressed in a post on X.

When she was 7 years old, Mireia was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare type of childhood cancer with a low life expectancy, which mainly affects the bones and their covering. She had it located in her left femur and, despite overcoming the disease, she lost a good part of her leg.

Watching a surfing documentary made her realize that this could be a great escape. Thus, true to her motto: "each person's limitation is only in the mind," she has become one of the most prominent Spanish athletes in the Adapted Surf category.
