The National Police have arrested a Chinese man in the Madrid district of Usera. The man kept his 30-year-old daughter locked up in a room without access to running water and with a chamber pot for her needs, forcing her to repair mobile phones in "unsanitary conditions".

The police intervention took place last Thursday afternoon when the victim, in a state of desperation, managed to contact the officers through the Intelligent Coordination Command and Control Center, formerly known as the 091 emergency call center. Upon arriving at the residence, the police were greeted by the 56-year-old father, who opened the door to the officers.

After a quick inspection of the house, the police found a room with locks on the door and window, where the young woman was in a state of nervousness and with visible injuries on her face.

The bedroom was not only locked, but also lacked the minimum habitability conditions. There was no running water and the hygiene conditions were deplorable, as reported by police sources. The young woman stated that this was not the first time her father had locked her up.

On previous occasions, the confinement of this 30-year-old woman had lasted up to a month, always forced to work on mobile phone repairs.

The father was arrested at his own home as the alleged perpetrator of domestic abuse (punishable by up to one year in prison) and illegal detention, punishable by up to eight years in prison for an imprisonment lasting more than 15 days, as stated in article 162.2 of the Penal Code. In total, the father faces a maximum sentence of nine years and has been brought before the court.
