Bristol police arrested a 34-year-old man early on Saturday in connection with the appearance of two suitcases with human remains on Clifton Suspension Bridge. Scotland Yard had previously identified the suspect as Yostin Andrés Mosquera, a Colombian national, while confirming the simultaneous discovery of remains belonging to two men in a residence in Sheperd's Bush, west of the British capital.

"This is a very significant breakthrough in our investigation, and we want to thank the citizens for their support," stated Andy Valentine, Deputy Commissioner of Scotland Yard, who joined the investigation after discovering that the suspect had traveled from London to Bristol between Wednesday and Thursday of this week when the suitcases with human remains were found.

A neighbor's call alerting to a person engaging in "suspicious activities" on the suspension bridge prompted police intervention, leading to the discovery of the two suitcases with human remains.

The suspect's intention was possibly to throw them into the Avon river gorge, but he had to flee upon the police's arrival.

Security cameras on Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol's main tourist attraction, captured the image of the suspect dressed in black and wearing an Adidas cap. Clues provided by Bristol residents apparently led to his arrest early on Saturday at Temple Meads railway station.

The police have not yet confirmed the identity of the detainee or whether it is indeed Yostin Andrés Mosquera. A 36-year-old man had been previously arrested in Greenwich, southeast London, but was released a few hours later.

Meanwhile, Scotland Yard is trying to identify the deceased victims, two middle-aged men. The suspect has been meanwhile taken to London police facilities for questioning, in an especially gruesome week in the UK, following the murder of three women with a crossbow in Bushey that has caused great shock among the British public.
