We travel the planet in search of the most interesting (and curious) travel novelties to face the January slope.

Singapore, the most powerful passport

According to the Henley Passport Index, which reviews the most powerful passports in the world, Singapore's passport is once again the document that opens the most borders on the planet, meaning its holders can travel visa-free to 195 out of the globe's 227 destinations. Japan follows in this annual ranking. Spain ranks third along with Germany, France, Italy, Finland and Korea. Just in case you needed to know: we can travel without prior visa to no less than 192 countries.

The most sought-after destinations in 2024

Turkey leads the ranking of the most sought-after destinations in the world in 2024, according to the trends reportYear in search compiled by Google each year. Following in the ranking are countries like Greece, which took the top spot in 2023, and Malta, whose history and Mediterranean landscapes captivated travelers during the past year. Italy, Egypt, Portugal, and Cyprus are the next locations that have made it onto the list. Mexico, as well as Mauritius Island and Croatia, also appear in the top ten.

New luxury hideaway in Milan

Milan, the capital of Lombardy, is ablaze with novelties and energy. The latest of the latest is in Brera, the tree-lined neighborhood full of cafes, shops, galleries, and museums such as the Pinacoteca Brera. It has just inaugurated an extension thanks to the incorporation of Palazzo Citterio. Another brand-new address to consider is Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Designed by architect and designer Patricia Urquiola, the hotel occupies a historic rationalist building and offers a culinary experience by chef Andrea Berton.

The busiest airports

What has been the busiest airport in the world in 2024? Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL), with 62.7 million seats and a 2% increase in capacity compared to 2023. Following in the ranking are Dubai (DXB), a leader in international capacity, followed by Tokyo Haneda (HND) and London Heathrow (LHR). This is indicated by the latest report from OAG, the leading data platform in the sector that annually reviews the national and international capacity of the main airports on the planet. This time, four of the busiest airports are in North America, three in Asia, two in Europe, and one in the Middle East. As for the airport with the highest growth, Shanghai Pudong (PVG) stands out, with a 29% increase compared to the previous year.
