Shakira was one of the big losers at the last edition of the Latin Grammy, but tonight she made up for it at the Grammy Awards, where she won the award for best Latin album for Las mujeres ya no lloran.

Without mentioning Donald Trump, the Colombian star dedicated the award to her "immigrant brothers and sisters" in the US: "You are loved, you are worthy, and I will always fight alongside you," she said amidst a wave of deportations of undocumented immigrants ordered by the country's president.

Accompanied at the gala by her sons Milan and Sasha, she also had a special mention for them and for the women who inspired her album's title: "To all the women who work hard to support their families, you are the true heroines," she said alongside Jennifer Lopez, who presented her with the award and with whom she shared a memorable performance during the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show.

The Colombian star, who just turned 48, beat out Anitta, Luis Fonsi, Kany García, and Kali Uchis in the category.

This marks Shakira's fourth Grammy award, as she kicks off the world tour for Las mujeres ya no lloran on the 11th in Rio de Janeiro. Tickets for her 18 stadium concerts across Latin America sold out in less than two hours, totaling 950,000tickets sold.

This is the Colombian's first world tour in seven years. Following the Latin American dates, Shakira will tour the US and Canada, with no dates announced yet for Spain, where she is rumored to perform in the summer.

The Grammy Awards have highlighted Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and Sabrina Carpenter. Beyoncé finally won the Grammy for Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter, becoming the first black artist to achieve this accolade in the 21st century. Additionally, Kendrick Lamar made history by winning all five awards he was nominated for with Not Like Us, his explosive song accusing Drake of being a pedophile. Sabrina Carpenter emerged as the new pop queen with awards for best pop album for Short n' Sweet and best solo pop recording for the irresistible Espresso.

In the Latin music Grammy categories, Residente won over Bad Bunny for the best urban music album, while Nathy Peluso lost to Rawayana for the best Latin alternative or rock album.
