Meghan Markle is going through a difficult time due to the recent loss of one of the most important members of her family. The Duchess of Sussex has confessed to being "devastated" after the death of Guy, her dog. The beagle was adopted by Meghan in 2015 from an animal shelter in Canada, and the causes of his death are currently unknown.
The Duchess has shared the news on her Instagram account, where she posted a video with photos and videos showing Meghan and her family playing with Guy. She accompanies it with a message in which she states that she has "cried too many tears to count" for Guy's death, also thanking him for "so many years of unconditional love."
The heartwarming images include the family making jam, running on the beach, and enjoying time in bed, all accompanied by their inseparable friend. At the end, Meghan can be heard singing with one of the couple's children: "We love you Guy, yes we do".
Regarding Guy's name, the Duchess once said that the shelter staff where she adopted him "referred to him as 'the little one' because he was very small and fragile." "So I called him 'Guy'. And he was the best boy any girl could have asked for," she expressed.
"He was with me through 'Suits', when I got engaged (and then married), when I became a mother... "He was with me through everything: the calm, the chaos, the comfort, the ease," Meghan adds in the farewell video. The Duchess also mentioned that Guy will appear in her upcoming Netflix series, titled 'With Love, Meghan'.
"I hope you can understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think maybe you'll fall in love a little too. I have cried so many tears that I can't count them, the kind of tears that make you get into the shower with the absurd hope that the water running over your face will make you not feel them or pretend they're not there. But they are there. And that's okay too. Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you'll never imagine," she concludes the message.
