Lady Gaga will portray the new version of Harley Quinn in 'Joker: Folie à Deux', the sequel to 'Joker' hitting theaters on November 4th. She surprised her fans on Tuesday by announcing the release of an album called 'Harlequin' on September 27th, complementing the premiere of the film she stars in alongside Joaquin Phoenix, as reported by Europa Press.
Apart from her role as Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel, Gaga is also making a musical comeback with 'Harlequin'. The album, consisting of 13 tracks, will be released this Friday, September 27th, to complement Todd Phillips' film, which has a strong musical element.
Not long ago, the singer joked about working on a surprising project. She dropped some seemingly unrelated clues on her social media.
The first post simply said: "I'm ready for my interview." However, the second post by Gaga was even more cryptic: "Don't tell me what to wear," the text read, while the third one said: "No mission without duct tape." But it was the last post that caught fans' attention: "It's still not October."
This sparked various theories, many associated with 'Joker: Folie à Deux', and their investigations were not far off. To everyone's surprise, the star of 'A Star is Born' has a new album: 'Harlequin', which will serve as an addition to the movie. Through Spotify, the song titles that make up the album have been revealed. They include: Good Morning, Get Happy (2024), Oh When the Saints, World on a String, That's Entertainment, Smile, The Joker, and Folie à Deux, among others.
Additionally, Gaga has shared the cover of her new album on her Instagram account, featuring the artist, songwriter, and producer in the shower, wearing a life vest and fully made up as a harlequin, in line with her character in the Joker sequel.
Directed by Phillips and co-written with Scott Silver, Folie à Deux will also star Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung, Jacob Lofland, Leigh Gill, and Catherine Keener. The film is part of the Elseworlds imprint, which includes other productions like 'The Batman' and its sequel, scheduled for late 2026.
