After 30 years, we can confirm that Forrest Gump, released in September 1994, has become a cult film in the cinematic world and in the hearts of many viewers.

The film catapulted its protagonist, Tom Hanks (68), who portrays Forrest Gump, an unforgettable character that has become the pinnacle of his career. Thanks to him, he won his second Oscar for Best Actor. The first one he received a year earlier, in 1993, for Philadelphia. He has since been nominated for other works, such as Saving Private Ryan (1998) or Cast Away (2001). Born in Concord, California, he grew up in a humble family, but his success on the big screen has led him to amass a fortune of 400 million dollars.

Hanks can boast of his professional career, but for years his personal life was tumultuous. When he was 20 years old, he started dating a classmate, Samantha Lewes, with whom he had his first child. When he was 23, they got married, and the actor stated that he did it because "he was very young and insecure." Shortly after, they had another daughter. However, while working on one of his films, he fell in love with Rita Wilson and began to be unfaithful to his wife. Twelve months later, he decided to divorce and remarried in 1986 with Wilson, with whom he also had two children. The couple has had to face difficult moments such as drug addiction of one of their children or breast cancer that Rita suffered.

Robin Wright and Tom Hanks in a scene from 'Forrest Gump'

Robin Wright (58), the actress who played Jenny Curran, Forrest Gump's childhood friend and wife, was already recognized in Hollywood for her role in the movie The Princess Bride (1987). After the success of Forrest Gump, Robin stood out for her work in House of Cards (2013-2018).

Setting aside her professional career, Robin Wright had a very tumultuous love life. She was married three times and had two children from her second marriage to Sean Penn, the man who made the actress stagnate and leave her professional acting career to raise her children. After 14 years with Penn, Robin decided to end the marriage in 2010. Her last husband was Yves Saint Laurent executive Clement Giraudet, but they divorced in 2022.

Robin was a beauty from her adolescence. At 14, she had already signed her first modeling contract. Something that would lead her down dark paths like taking acid at 15 years old.

But Robin Wright is much more than Jenny from Forrest Gump or Sean Penn's ex-wife or the girl who took acid at 15. Robin has been one of the first actresses to demand equal pay to that of the co-star of the series she was working on, House of Cards.

Committed to her work, Robin is the spokesperson for The Gordie Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping young alcohol addicts. She is also part of the Enough Project entity, to combat sexual violence in Africa.

She is one of the most influential women in Hollywood, empowered and happy, as she states in a recent interview: "I have never been happier in my life than I am now."

Also, Lieutenant Dan, Forrest's army friend who lost his legs during the Vietnam War, made a mark in our memories. Gary Sinise has been away from the show business world. His most recent appearance was in the series 13 Reasons Why in 2020. Gary decided to dedicate himself to the charitable causes he started from the moment he portrayed the war veteran in Forrest Gump. Gary's main concern until now has been supporting war veterans.

Additionally, he recently experienced the loss of his son, caused by spinal cancer. It has been a battle that the family has endured greatly, as Gary expresses: "As parents, it is very difficult to lose a child."

And how could we forget that blue-eyed boy who rose to stardom in Hollywood with The Sixth Sense (1999) and Pay It Forward (2000). Haley Joel Osment played Forrest's son in Forrest Gump; and he is one of the actors who completely disappeared from Hollywood.

Many child actors fall into disgrace over time or have lives with excesses or mental health problems. But in the case of Haley Osment, as he grew older, he decided to step away from the cameras to focus on his studies. When Haley was seen again, no one believed what their eyes saw. The boy who once touched our hearts had become an adult man, and it can be said that he did not age as expected. Haley did not land any major roles in the film industry again and now works on minor roles like voicing Disney films.

Lastly, Mykelti Williamson, who portrayed the iconic Bubba, Forrest's friend with whom he sold shrimp, still appears periodically in some work. In 2024, he appeared in the series Fallout. But the most significant thing is that he still looks great and youthful at 66. It's as if the 30 years since the movie had not passed for him.
