Tiffany Haddish has pleaded not guilty to two charges in her DUI case.
The 44-year-old comedian was charged with one misdemeanour count of driving under the influence of alcohol and another misdemeanour count of driving with .08 percent blood alcohol content after she was arrested in November for falling asleep at the wheel. She denied both charges during an arraignment hearing at a Los Angeles court on Wednesday (December 20).
Under California law, it is illegal to drive with a BAC of .08 percent or higher if you are over 21 years old. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for February 14, according to People.
Tiffany was detained by police early on November 24 for falling asleep in a car in Beverly Hills, California, hours after performing at a comedy show over the Thanksgiving break.
A watch commander for the Beverly Hills Police Department said: "We responded to a call of a vehicle on the roadway at 5.45 this morning." He also noted officers were told the driver was "asleep behind the wheel".
Page Six added sources said Tiffany's car was "stopped in lanes of traffic" and not pulled over to the side, meaning any vehicles that were driving in the area at that time would have had to go around her car.
Tiffany addressed the incident hours after she was released from custody when she performed a comedy set at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, California, joking to the audience: "I had prayed to God to send me a man with a job, career, preferably in a uniform, and I answered my prayers."
She later insisted the incident will "never happen again" adding to Entertainment Tonight that she planned to get help for her issues: "I'm going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries."
