The first one appeared in Germany in the Middle Ages and, since then, Christmas markets in the Old Continent have become an essential tradition. The association Best European Destinations, which depends on the European Union for tourism, has chosen this year's top 10 after an online survey. And the first is the Polish city of Gdansk, which tops the list with more than 90,000 votes out of a total of 753,382 from 152 countries. Why? Its theater, dance and carol displays, its ornament workshops, its lights, its meetings with Santa Claus?
